Scintillate

What does it take to make you smile? I mean really smile? Like without thinking that that is the most appropriate reaction? What would you just think about and be truly pleased without thinking someone is watching, or that you have to do because you don't want to hurt someone's feelings? Well, I didn't know that there are things in this world that can simply clear grey skies and brighten the day without even trying. I mean yes I have been in love and I am now married to the most amazing man and he does make me feel all sorts of emotions, but let me tell you something else I found out. Babies! It's babies that can make a simply miserable day turn into sunshine and flowers. 

I have lots of videos of my adorable niece that just brighten up my day. Imagine being in a public service vehicle and then you see someone just smiling to themselves. No, they are not on the phone, they are sitting alone with no phone to their ear, no neighbor beside them,  just looking lost in a dream with a big smile plastered on their face. Ladies and gentlemen, that would be me thinking about my lovely niece. I have never felt so much love for such a little human who does nothing but cry and smile. Those are the only ways she can express herself and sometimes I think it is better when they are at that stage because soon she will start talking. What if she gets a smart mouth and asks me questions that I have no answers to? Will she think I'm stupid? Or what if she starts arguing about everything? Will she still be so cute? I don't really care, I love her so much!

There are so many cares in the world especially in Kenya today. So many young people are taking their own lives because they have dark days that don't end. It's like being stuck in a starless night with no electricity for days on end. I wish there were a lot more things in the world that were able to brighten dark days. I wish there were a lot more people who were able to make others smile simply because they thought about them. How about you try to be that person today? Granted, you may fail but it's the effort that matters. Be a light today.
